Fulcrum Construction is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Construction Superintendent to join our West Coast team. Fulcrum Construction is a nationwide commercial general contractor specializing in the retail sector. Projects assigned can vary in size from $1M to $10M, and will include site work, ground up store/facility construction, tenant improvements, and open store remodels with the Construction – New Jersey contractor company. Specific consideration will be given to candidates with service station, convenience store, and warehouse/industrial construction experience. The Successful Candidate will independently manage the day-to-day operations of the project in the field. He/she must provide steady leadership and strong direction to all field staff as well as maintain timely essential communication with project managers and owners to ensure the successful completion of onsite construction. The Superintendent is responsible for all onsite quality assurance, project safety, and schedule implementation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Solely responsible for, and will be held accountable for, the timely completion of the project and ensuring that the project is constructed in strict accordance with plans, specifications, and local codes.
  • Manage all aspects of the on-site construction project from project start to punch-list completion.
  • Manage all on-site personnel to ensure project is completed in sequence, per the contract documents/local codes and within projected time line.
  • Develop and communicate 3-week look ahead schedules based off master schedule
  • Ensure that subcontractor is fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of work.
  • Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate same to project team for resolution.
  • Manager/lead all weekly subcontractor meetings.
  • Initiate / Submit RFIs – as applicable to field conditions.
  • Develop a project site logistics plan and lead site orientation meetings with all workers to review.
  • Review and understand materials budgets.
  • Negotiate and execute POs for onsite trailers, storage containers, dumpsters, and other site needs.
  • Approve invoices for specified job cost codes.
  • Document and ensure quality control and safety standards.
  • Track material deliveries and change orders.
  • Develop, manage, and implement job specific safety programs and procedures.
  • Coordinate jobsite meetings/visits with owners, subcontractors, and Fulcrum team members.
  • Onsite leader of safety programs – including providing weekly toolbox talks.
  • Confirm all work is in compliance with approved submittals and shop drawings.
  • Document all job site activity via daily reports.
  • Interface with the project administrator, close out specialist, and accounting department as needed to get the job done.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least seven years or more of experience in commercial construction field.
  • At least five years of experience as a superintendent of projects of similar size/scope to those in the Fulcrum portfolio.
  • Proven/previous experience on projects with complex site work and ground up construction.
  • Proficient in plan reading, construction design and overall building regulations/laws.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and process construction documents (plans, specifications, soil reports, safety manuals, etc.)
  • Technically proficient with typical construction software applications such as Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must be comfortable using email, text messaging and video chats.
  • Mastery of building processes and best practices.
  • Proficient in estimating and scheduling practices.
  • OSHA-30 Certification
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
